GILLMOSS RECYCLING DISCOVERY CENTRE

SEE HOW WE RECYCLE! The Recycling Discovery Centre at Gillmoss offers FREE visits for you to delve into the world of waste! During your experience, you will discover:

  • How you can recycle at home to help you and your group Recycle Right
  • How to reduce contamination -That’s the wrong things put in the recycling bins
  • The Journey of Waste – from your home to its final destination

Every visit includes a tour of the state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility where you’ll see recycling in action. When you book you will be asked to make a written commitment: To do something back at home or in school after your visit and afterwards tell us how it went! Our purpose built, visually stimulating classroom is fully accessible, and all sessions are led by a qualified teacher to meet the requirements of the group, and our Gillmoss Recycling Discovery Centre holds the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge.

KIRKBY RAIL TRANSPORT LOADING STATION VISITOR CENTRE

SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WASTE WE CAN’T RECYCLE: Ever wondered what we do with the waste we cant recycle. We’re converting that waste into energy to make electricity – enough for nearly 60,000 homes!

Visit our Visitor Centre at the Rail Transfer Loading Station in Knowsley to see how we transport by train the waste we can’t currently recycle, to our Energy from Waste facility in Teesside. We welcome visits by community groups for up to 10 people.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of the work we are unable to accept bookings for those under the age of 16.
