What’s in your black bag? We’re always trying to improve recycling at our Centres – so if you’re bringing a black bag please check that there is nothing else inside that could be recycled!
Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority (MRWA) and its contractor Veolia are always looking to reduce the amounts of black bin bags of household ‘waste’, which is deposited at our Recycling Centres.
Each one could contain valuable recycling, and so staff at all our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) may ask residents to open their black bags to see if there are items or materials that could be recycled or further sorted at the Centre.
Staff also raise awareness with residents that almost all ‘waste’ can be re-used or recycled, and by knowing about what materials can be recycled could reduce the amount of ‘black bin bag’ waste.
This includes advice on sorting recyclable materials at home, and showing that most of what they bring can actually be recycled – and some, could have been left out for their regular kerbside recycling collections.
