MWDA is seeking to develop two large sites for waste facilities to process household waste. We have identified a number of possible sites and we are in discussion with landowners and local councils regarding their suitability.
We understand the public perceptions of the development of waste facilities and will be undertaking a detailed consultation and communication programme with all communities and stakeholders about any prospective sites and waste technologies.
This process has a long timescale attached to it and we are in the early stages of discussions. The sites that are being considered at present may not be the final locations of new facilities. Any site that is taken forward for the development of a new waste facility would of course be subject to full public consultation as part of the planning application and the decision to approve the development would lie with the relevant Planning Authority.Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority is seeking to develop two large sites for waste facilities to process household waste.
