Welcome to the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority Website
Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (MWDA) is a statutory authority established in 1986, following the abolition of Merseyside County Council, to undertake the household waste disposal functions for local authorities across Merseyside - Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral. MWDA takes a lead in advocating recycling, waste minimisation and the safe and effective disposal of household waste for Merseyside’s residents.
NEW: Recycle Your Christmas Rubbish
Thousands of tonnes of waste will have been created over Christmas and New Year so we are asking householders to use the region’s 14 Household Waste Recycling Centres where they can bring all sorts of festive leftovers. For tips on how to recycle the waste you produce see our Christmas recycling page.
NEW: Recycling Park Plan For Gillmoss
We are proposing to develop our Gillmoss site into a Recycling Park, with a Materials Recovery Facility and a Visitor and Education Centre. Find out more here.
NEW: Asbestos disposal - online booking service
We are pleased to have introduced an online asbestos booking system. If you have an asbestos product you wish to dispose of then follow this link.
